After 20+ years working with major brands including Microsoft, Coty, Rakuten, Allergan, and Dentsu, writing award-winning books, teaching marketing at FIT, Parsons, and NYU, building Hello Gorgeous to 150K readers in 15 months, and co-founding a thriving nonprofit from the ground up, I’ve learned some huge lessons.
Here’s one most people miss: the best marketing and communications strategy isn’t about having unlimited access, budget, or resources (though we all dream about that!). It’s about having the right insight at the right moment.
As journalism shifts and continues to do so, so does the marketing and PR industry. My background is a bit unconventional. I’m a beauty historian and former celebrity makeup artist who became an award-winning author and culture journalist. I’ve consulted for major brands, taught at top universities, and co-founded a nonprofit that serves Holocaust survivors and their families. I’m a FEMA-trained chaplain first responder specializing in psychological first aid and crisis response.
